Ex-County Social Worker Arrested for Elder Abuse
Christine Tovar used to work for the Riverside County social services department and she has now presented herself for arrest in an elder abuse case that investigators believe involves the theft of over twenty-two thousand dollars from two victims. She surrendered herself at nine in the morning on Thursday and was charged with two counts of financial elder abuse and five counts of grand theft, according to the detectives in charge of the case. One of the victims or Tovar claimed that she had stolen over eighteen thousand dollars in cash and checks over the years. While investigators worked on that claim, they came across another elderly woman whom Tovar had stolen an additional four thousand dollars from. Police are still investigating all of the work that Tovar had done for the Riverside County over the years to determine if there are any other victims out there that she had stolen anything from.
